First of all, I want to thank everyone who entered - you all gave such thoughtful responses and gave me the chance to hear about books that I've never heard of before! If you didn't win this time and would still like a copy, please keep your eyes open - I will be giving ANOTHER copy away later this Ambuzzador season (the season runs from October - January)!
Congratulations to MARIE! She posted her wonderful response on my old blog, before I closed it:
My favorite young adult novel is a favorite to many: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by JK Rowling. I have about a thousand reasons for loving this book, and for that matter, the whole series. JK made it cool to read. Kids who’d never wanted to read a book for pleasure in their whole lives were reading. For fun. Not because they had it assigned to them. I actually resisted the series until book 4 came out. I teased my sisters for being such fan girls. Eventually Katie got sick of it, handed me book one and wouldn’t let me do anything else until I gave it a chance. I was hooked from the very first paragraph of the very first page. I identified with Harry a lot in the Sorcerer’s Stone. He was an outcast, no one special. Couldn’t rely on his family. He had no friends. But he discovered this whole other side to himself that WAS special and he made friends, and found his family. He had to find his home, and fight like hell to keep it. Harry Potter is one of the few truly major influences on my life. I will love it forever and tell anyone who hasn’t read them to just give it a try. They’ll find something they probably didn’t expect to find. I know I did.
Please keep your eyes open for an email from me about your address!
I have another quick announcement - I am hosting another giveaway here! All the details are on the post! Again, thank you to everyone who entered!
Happy reading!
