Musing Mondays

Musing Mondayasks you to muse about one of the following each week...

Describe your reading habits...

Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s)...

Tell us what you're reading right now - what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or aren't) enjoying...

My musing?

I am currently reading Epic Fail by Claire LaZebnik - another, yes another, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen retelling. This one is a bit different than the other variations/retellings/reimagings that I've read in that it is a Young Adult novel! The other P&P variations have all taken place within the original universe with the original characters or have revolved around adults.

Epic Fail is about four sisters (LaZebnik got rid of Mary) who have moved cross country to attend an elite prep school because their mother has accepted the principal position. Darcy = Derek, the son of two very well known actors and Charles = Chase, a sweet and kind boy who takes a liking to Elise's sister, Juliana right away (can you guess who those two are based off of...?)

I'm only a few chapters in and so far, it seems cute. I'm not expecting to be blown away by it but I do think that I will like it.

Oh, and, it's one of Amazon's monthly deals so... if you have a Kindle and this sounds appealing to you, definitely go check it out. The link is right here.

What are you reading right now?

    1. I love them! In some cases, I think that it makes the stories more accessible to people who have a hard time getting into classics or are intimidated by them... They make them easier to understand and are a door way of sorts to reading the actual book.

  3. That's definitely new (to me)! I don't think I've come across any P&P retelling's for young adults before. I'm going to have to look into that. Good to hear it's a fun read!

  5. Glad you're enjoying it. I don't read many re-tellings, but I have enjoyed the ones I've gotten to, like Cinder.
